“In Search of Mo”

Inspired by a reflection on Mo Mowlam (Henrietta Norton’s stepmother) and what she taught us…

A conversation with Henrietta on women and their place in society today, against a backdrop of political and social instability.

Henrietta Norton is an independent Director and Producer who co-founded Hot Feet, a film company that seeks to create documentaries that platform ‘silent, unheard voices’ through storytelling. Their first feature length documentary Born and Reared launched in Spring 2016 and was nominated for Best Irish Documentary and Best Human Rights film. After premiering at Galway Film Fleadh it went on to screen at a variety of festivals across the UK, Ireland and internationally. Most recently it launched the Washington Irish Film Festival before going on to screen in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem. It also screened this summer at the Curzon in London, QFT in Belfast, The IFI in Dublin and at festivals in Canada and Berlin.

Most recently Henrietta has directed and produced, The DUP, who are the Kingmakers? and The 52% for The Guardian. Prior to this she made Ireland’s forgotten mixed-race child abuse victims, a short film that was shortlisted for Best Non-scripted Online Short at the Broadcast Digital Awards 2017. She also directed and produced, Inside an Abandoned Airport in Greece, A Refugee Camp for The New York Times.

Alongside her film work, Henrietta works as a Creative Producer for a variety of arts organisations such as Artichoke, Motiroti, Coney and Kids Company. She works as a consultant to the arts and cultural sector, advising on alternative audience development, fundraising and marketing strategies. She has facilitated workshops around these themes across the UK, Europe and the Middle East and has partnered with a variety of organisations as part of this work including The British Council, Arts Council England, Artquest and A-N amongst others.

Henrietta founded the first UK crowdfunding platform for the arts back in January 2011 (wedidthis.org.uk) which she ran for two years before merging it with Crowdfunder.
