Augmenting Communication Using Environmental Data to Drive Language Prediction
We are delighted to welcome Professor Annalu Waller to come and talk to us. Annalu is an internationally recognised researcher in AAC and Assistive Technology and an engaging speaker. Annalu will discuss current research into AAC and how this can impact on AAC practice. Annalu will also present her exciting current AAC project: ACE-LP (http://aac.dundee.ac.uk/ace-lp/) .
Annalu has worked in the field of AAC since 1983, designing communication systems for and with nonspeaking individuals. She established the first AAC assessment and training centre in South Africa in 1987 before joining the University of Dundee department of computing in 1989. At Dundee Annalu has forged an internationally recognised AAC research group researching aspects of human computer interaction, natural language processing, personal narrative and assistive technology. In particular, Annalu has focused on empowering end users, including disabled adults and children, by involving them in the design and use of technology.
