Guest Speaker Maria Cerrato Lara - Writing strategies during your PhD

This session aims to provide some useful training to junior researchers in the process of publishing their work. To this end, the talk will not only cover the organisation and structure of a research paper, but also resources to take our contribution to the spotlight, and resources to keep the attention of the reader.
Maria Cerrato Lara is a tenure-track lecturer at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), Barcelona, Spain. In 2014 she defended her thesis which included a look at the perceptions and difficulties expressed by doctoral students in relation to scientific writing based on 631 doctoral students from 37 Spanish universities. Since then she has conducted several workshops to guide doctoral students through the writing process for their thesis. Some institutions where Dra. Cerrato-Lara has conducted training on writing for publication are the Department of Communication at Aalto University (Finland), the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at Porto University (Portugal), the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics at Oxford Brookes University (UK), as well as the Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development (OCLSD) and the Faculty of Healthcare and Life Sciences; the Department of Education at the University of Oxford (UK) and lately at the Faculty of Business Sciences at Olavide University (Spain).
