About this event

Community • State

Untouched for over a decade, the seven Grade II Listed gasholders played a big part in the East End’s rich history of innovation and invention.

In 2024, the landowner, St William, secured a Resolution to Grant Planning Permission for a comprehensive mixed-use development of the site, including detailed plans for Gasholders No.1 and No.2.

As part of the vision for the site, the gasholders’ remarkable heritage will be preserved and celebrated. You can explore the proposals in more detail at www.bromley-by-bow.com.

After three years of participation in Newham Heritage Month and welcoming hundreds of visitors to the site, we are excited to offer one final opportunity to view these iconic structures up close—before construction begins.

Due to health and safety reasons the site tours are only available to over 18’s. Full PPE will be required and be provided, but do bring your own if you have it (hard hat, high vis jacket and steel cap boots)

Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can start promptly.

Location: Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks is located just past Twelvetrees Crescent Bridge, opposite West Ham Memorial Gardens E3 3TE.
