About this event

Our guided morning meditation is your perfect introduction if you’re seeking to make positive lifestyle changes and meet like-minded people!

Meditation calms the mind, improves attention and promotes joy, peace and happiness. Many use meditation as a means to relieve anxiety and stress, for self-healing, improve focus and productivity, improve sleep, or as part of positive lifestyle changes or spiritual practice. It is a useful (and cheaper) alternative to target-specific conventional medicine. You do not need to be experienced in meditation, nor follow a particular spiritual practice - this class is open to everyone, no matter how well you can focus or not.

Our guided meditation sessions are provided by a trained teacher, Syama Gauri Devi Dasi, who has been a spiritual practitioner of ISKCON for over 30 years.

Participants sit and meditate by following Syama’s spoken guidance and background relaxing music. You do not need to bring anything extra with you, although we suggest wearing clothes you are comfortable to sit in. There are options to sit on the floor or on a chair, whatever is best for you. A cup of Yogi tea and homemade cake is served after class.

About Atma Lounge

Priya Kunda Das and Syama Gauri Devi Dasi opened Atma Lounge in Folkestone, Kent, in October 2016 to give people an opportunity to learn about and experience the culture and wisdom of the Vedas from ancient India.

Our aim is to cultivate the loving and encouraging mood of our great spiritual teacher His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada - the Founder-Acarya of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) - and his dear disciple HH Kesava Bharati Dasa Goswami.

We have been spiritual practitioners of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) for over 20 years. We are passionate about creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. We have exciting programmes running throughout the week: We offer meditation classes, reading groups and a special Sunday Feast Programme. We invite you, your friends and family to come and participate in our programs. There is something of interest for everyone.

ISKCON was founded by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda in New York City in 1966. ISKCON belongs to the Gaudiya-Vaishnava sampradāya, a monotheistic tradition associated with ancient India. It is based on the devotional bhakti yoga texts, Bhagavad-gītā and Srimad Bhagavatam. These teach that the ultimate goal for all living beings is to reawaken their love for God, or Lord Krishna, the “all-attractive one”. God is known across the world by many names including Allah, Jehovah, Yahweh, Rama, etc. ISKCON devotees chant God’s names in the form of the Maha-Mantra, the great prayer for deliverance:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare

Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
