About this event

Learn how to identify a handful of beginners’ mushrooms with like-minded people in a beautiful forest. After sell-out seasons in 2023 and 2024, I am excited to announce the first new dates for the upcoming mushroom hunting season. Let me guide you on a foraging walk and share my passion and experience for mushrooms with you. I learnt from the best trained mushroom controllers in Switzerland and have over 45 years of foraging experience. Now I would love to share this with you. 🌳🌿🌲These walks are designed for beginners but even if you're a seasoned forager, there's something magical about the shared excitement of discovering mushrooms together. 🍄✨ Following an introductory talk, we'll spend about 3 hours on a guided foraging walk. You will learn about: the relationship between mycorrhizal fungi and trees and their preferred habitats; identifying a handful of choice edible mushrooms for novice foragers and the poisonous ones to avoid; foraging do’s and don’ts and laws and; tips on picking and harvesting, cooking and preserving different wild mushrooms. We will meet in the middle of a well-established forest and explore the publicly accessible areas in a group of up to 13 people. Travel to the meeting point is by car or by train and cab and you can get there in about 1 1/4 hour by car from South East London. You will receive with the invitation with the exact location about one week before the walk. You can join a WhatsApp group to organise a car or taxi share. To keep on learning you can share photos, tips and questions after the walk. Please come prepared. Wear walking boots or wellies (it might be wet and muddy), long sleeves and trousers (we might walk through brambles), waterproofs (it may well rain) and bring a basket, or cloth bag and a pocketknife and, if you have one, a mushroom guide book. I offer concessionary tickets for people on universal credit, or those who use food banks. Please contact me to arrange or if you have any other questions: adi@urbanmushrooms.co.uk I have learned over the years that there is no guarantee that we find (m)any mushrooms. I can promise you though that we will have fun day out. 🌟 Don’t just take my word, see what other people have said about these guided foraging walks. Cancellation Policy (Mushroom Foraging Walks) The mushroom foraging walks have limited spaces to ensure a good experience for all participants. Many of the workshops and foraging walks sell out. For this reason, I kindly ask you to cancel at least 7 calendar days before your scheduled workshop or foraging walks. This will allow me to offer your spot to another mushroom enthusiast. To cancel please email adi@urbanmushrooms.co.uk. Please note the following refund amounts (notwithstanding policies from third party providers): 0 – 6 days notice: No refund will be issued, but you can rebook another workshop or foraging walk, if a place is available. 7 – 13 days notice: A partial refund minus the booking fees occurred through a third party platforms will be issued. Alternatively, but you can rebook another workshop or foraging walk, if a place is available. 14 days or more notice: A full refund (including booking fees occurred through a third party platforms) will be issued. Alternatively, you can rebook another workshop or foraging walk, if a place is available. Cancellation or change of date by Adi’s Urban Mushrooms If the event is cancelled or the date changed, a full refund will or rebooking on another workshop or foraging walk (if a place is available) will be offered. Reduced Tickets available for people on benefits or those working below minimum wage. Contact Adi adi@urbanmushrooms.co.uk for more information and link. Mush Love 🍄‍🟫❤️ Adi

Organized by

South London Mushroom Club

The club holds monthly in person meetings for mushroom enthusiasts. Everybody is welcome to participate at the level right for them. Events are planned based on participants’ interests and facilitated by active members. The programme is varied focussing on diverse aspects related to fungi and mushrooms. We have a WhatsApp group for support, planning and exchange. Event costs are covered through donations, making these events accessible to lots of people. The best thing about the club is that we create connections, a bit like fungal networks. See what people say about their experience of the Mushroom Club: 'I love this club and I always enjoy it so much!’ - ‘Having only been to a few sessions so far I already feel so welcome to the club, thank you!’ - ‘It's awesome. So glad you set it up Adi xx’

Mushroom Growing Workshops

My purpose is to support you in learning about fungi and enable you to become involved in mushroom cultivation and foraging. I offer a range of workshops at the Remakery or in collaboration with community gardens, schools and teams. This is how I can share knowledge and skills and explore ways in which mushrooms can be integrated into urban gardens to support well-being and social and environmental change. This not only enriches our understanding of local food production but also promotes sustainability and community resilience. Are you interested to learn more? Check out what participants have said: 'Adi ran a fantastic workshop for our community gardening network + volunteers; extremely engaging, accessible, fascinating and entertaining. Highly recommend.' (Barney) - 'It was an absolute pleasure having Adi as part of our STEM week.' (teacher) - 'That was the best workshop ever' (child, aged 8)

Guided Foraging Walks

You will learn about do’s and don’ts; a handful of choice edible mushrooms for novice foragers and the poisonous ones to avoid; their habitats; foraging laws and; tips on harvesting, cooking and preserving different wild mushrooms. The walks will take place in autumn and they will sell out fast, so make sure you secure your place as soon as possible.
