Event description

Description

"I learned more about Coventrys history in 2 hours on this guided tour, than I'd learned in a lifetime of living here"

A genuine quote from a lady who completed the Medieval City Wall Tour in August.

Join us as we've added 3 more Saturday afternoon tours to September on Saturday the 16th, 23rd & 30th where we will meander around the old Medieval wall discovering why King Charles II ordered it's destruction in 1662?, why it was built with 12 gates and 20 towers?, the hidden treasure of one Zakariah Peach and much much more.

Our costumed Tour Guide the Deep FACT Friar will amuse and regale you with stories of Coventry's Medieval past. Why we had the greatest wall outside of London and just how the townsfolk (i.e. the women) kept King Charles I out of the city and what they used to keep the wall safe.

We take in the 12 gate locations and 20 towers that protected the citizens of Coventry as we visit the 2 remaining gates and 2 of the remaining look out towers as we follow the route of the wall as accurately as possible.

We recommend bringing cameras as there are lots of photo opportunities and let us show you things that are right under your very nose. We also suggest wearing soft/comfortable walking shoes.

We meet at Priory Visitor Centre (behind Nando's on Trinity Street) and we go at the pace of the slowest walker. On average the tour will take between 2-2.30 hours.

Each participant receives a copy of the 48 Page Coventry Medieval Story educational colouring book which includes a copy of the map above of the old city wall
