About this event

Travel & Outdoor • Hiking

Join ROC Adventure for a guided full-day traverse of Crib Goch, one of the UK’s most thrilling mountain routes, followed by a summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa, 1085m). This classic route forms part of the Snowdon Horseshoe, an exhilarating ridge line offering breathtaking views, light scrambling and a true sense of mountain adventure.

Led by qualified and experienced mountain leaders, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience one of Britain’s most iconic ridges in a supportive, small-group setting. We specialise in providing inclusive, safe and rewarding outdoor experiences for all ability levels, from first-time scramblers to seasoned hillwalkers.

We’ll begin the day in Llanberis, from where we’ll take a short local bus journey (fare not included) to Pen-y-Pass, the traditional starting point for the Crib Goch ascent. From there, our route follows:

  • The Pyg Track – gentle start and warm-up ascent
  • Crib Goch Ridge – exhilarating Grade 1 scramble with exposed ridgelines and panoramic views
  • Garnedd Ugain (Crib y Ddysgl) – the second highest peak in Wales
  • Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa) – enjoy a well-earned break and incredible 360° views
  • Descent via the Llanberis Path – a gradual and scenic route back to the village

Expect around 13km of hiking and scrambling, with over 1000m of ascent.

This experience is ideal for:

  • Fit and adventurous beginners wanting to try a classic scramble safely with a guide
  • Walkers with some mountain or hiking experience
  • Anyone with a good head for heights and a sense of adventure

No technical climbing skills are needed, Crib Goch is a Grade 1 scramble, meaning hands-on rock movement but no ropes or specialist climbing gear.

If you’re comfortable walking steep paths and want to experience one of Britain’s most iconic ridges, this day is for you.

Weather & Safety

The mountains of Snowdonia are unpredictable and safety is our top priority.
If strong winds make Crib Goch unsafe, an alternative mountain route will be chosen (such as Y Lliwedd, Moel Siabod or the Glyders). These routes will still offer scrambling and a full day in the hills.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

  • Full refund if we cancel (for any reason other than unsafe weather).
  • No refunds for participant cancellations within 7 days of the event.
  • Weather cancellations (where safety is compromised) will result in either a rescheduled date or a safe alternative mountain route but not a refund.
