Sun 16 April 2017, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
Join our guided walk to Aesica Roman Fort & Thirlwall Castle.
Our route follows some of the most impressive sections of Hadrian's Wall with excellent panoramic views before visiting the fort at Aesica with its impressive altar where people still leave their "offerings" today.
We then head north from Walltown Gap to the Tipalt Burn before following the path downstream to Thirlwall Castle, a 14th century stronghold against the "Border Reivers". Enjoy fabulous views and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this border region.
