Guided Walk - Dally Castle and Tarsetdale Circular
Sun 14 May 2017, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
Join our guided walk; Dally Castle and Tarsetdale Circular
This walk takes in the 13th century Tarset and Dally Castles, strongholds built when this area of North Tynedale came under the Scottish Crown.
The return north crosses the River Tyne again by the historic footbridge built to access Thorneyburn Station on the now defunct Border Counties railway. The return over Sidwood gives good views of the North Tyne before passing Thorneyburn church with its connection to the Napoleonic Wars. This is a varied walk whose tranquility belies its more violent past.
