Guided Walk from Stone Railway Station

Join us at Stone Railway Station for a free guided walk taking in the beautiful historic town of Stone led by local historians Philip Leason and Steve Booth.

The walk will take approximately two hours, with regular stops to share information, and will follow a route that takes attendees through the Stone's High Street, along part of the Trent and Mersey Canal and includes a visit to the remains of Stone Priory and an exhibition at Stone Heritage Centre.

The guided walk is free to attend however places are limited and tickets should be booked in advance. The tour is not suitable for children under 12.

The guided walk will conclude at Stone Heritage Centre where attendees will be offered refreshments and the opportunity to view a specially curated exhibition. The exhibition will explore the story of the history and development of Stone Station, which will consist of artwork dedicated to the depictions of the railway buildings in Stone (past and present) along railway related items. Stone Heritage Centre is located at Joules Fire Station on Newcastle Street. To commemorate the dedication of the fire officers who performed an essential service in the town, there will be a rare opportunity at this event to view the scale model of the horse drawn steamer engine Edith Mabel, a machine closely associated with the history of Stone.
