Event description

Description

Join us for an afternoon wander across a usually unaccessible area of the Heart of England Forest, as Forestry Officer Will Taylor takes you to explore wetland, farmland and woodland at Netherstead, Morton Bagot.

This is unique opportunity which will allow you to look out for Mad March hares as you cross through the farmland and woodland creation plantations. You should also be able to see a good variety of waterfowl and wading birds attracted to a wetland area created some years ago. It is not unusual to see teal, shelducks, grebes, redshank & black-tailed godwits, so make sure you bring a pair of binoculars if you have some.

The walking tour will take in woodland of various ages and farmland featured in the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme that recognises how farming and wildflife conservation can work together with the introduction of beetle banks and wildfower areas.

While we do not set a ticket price for this event we kindly request that a minimum donation of £5.00 per adult is made. This will allow us to cover any costs and continue with our work and offering these guided walks through the Heart of England Forest.

Free parking on the day will be available and details of this will be send prior to the event.

Please remember to bring walking boots or wellies as you will be walking off the beaten track on uneven and potentially muddy ground. Also remember to bring some water and dress appropriately for the weather.

Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs on leads are welcome.

By registering for this event you are agreeing to us contacting you by email or phone to advise you of any further event information, changes to the event or post-event feedback.
