Guided walk; Woden Law - in the footsteps of the legions
Meet at Buckham’s Bridge car park by 10.30am to car share up to Chew Green. This walk follows the Pennine Way through Chew Green fort and across Coquet Head then swings over Whiteside Hill and drops down to Nether Hindhope. We then take the (deserted) road north to meet Dere Street and, with Woden Law looming above us, climb the Dere Street path to take a closer look at the fort on Woden Law. The second half of the walk follows Dere Street (a roman road and probably a prehistoric highway) back to Chew Green. The views on this stretch are little known and can often be glorious.
