Description

Join one of Letchworth's Town Historians on a pleasant stroll through some of the highlights of the first Garden City's history. Our gentle walking route is punctuated with stops where we can dig deeper into the history of certain buildings.

Starting at the Spirella Building on Bridge Road (free parking in the car park, accessed via Icknield Way) this tour takes in Parks and Gardens, Arts & Crafts, Cheap Cottages, hidden gems, and a brief stop at The International Garden Cities Exhibition, where you can enjoy free fair trade hot drinks and discover more about the history of Letchworth, Ebenezer Howard, and the Garden City Movement - and its legacy across the world.

The walking tour should take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours.

You can park for FREE at The Spirella Building, with the car park accessible off Icknield Way.

There is a small amount of walking on grass/uneven ground - you should wear sensible footwear if possible.

Includes FREE Fairtrade tea & coffee at The International Garden Cities Exhibition halfway through the tour.
