About this event

To celebrate the launch of the Guildhall Library 600th anniversary exhibition we are delighted to welcome Prof. Caroline Barron to give a talk on the original library at Guildhall. In 1425 the wealthy mayor Richard Whittington and the learned town clerk, John Carpenter, joined forces to found the first public library in England on the east side of Guildhall yard. But it was plundered at the Reformation and had to be re-founded in the Nineteenth Century.

Includes wine reception.

In-person: For access to the event, please use the West Wing Reception entance on Aldermanbury.
