Event Details

This year, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to break a Guinness World Record and help children with cancer!

You and thousands of other participants, including many children and parents, will gather on the 14th of October and attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most people folding recycled paper planes simultaneously. You will then witness the moment when at least 12,000 recycled paper planes will fly simultaneously. And all on your doorstep in the centre of Cambridge!

By participating, you will also be helping us raise funds for a life-changing aeroplane to fly children with cancer to get access to treatment, to reunite with their families or to take them to the places of their dreams.

Be part of a rare and incredible community that breaks a Guiness World Record. You can even get a Guinness official, validated certificate to prove and commemorate your participation (additional costs may apply).

Everyone is invited to be part of this Guinness World Record Official Attempt, but please be aware that all participants must be over the age of 7 years on the day of the event and accompanied by an adult participant.

Do something remarkable for an inspiring cause and be part of a day you will remember forever!

Register now! The number of participants is limited.

Fundraising

Would you like your name painted on a real aeroplane?

At the end of the registration process for the Guinness World Record Official Attempt, you will have the option to create a fundraising page. This would help you to fundraise an amount of your choice for the programme "Fly Through Cancer". Fly Through Cancer aims to operate a life-changing aeroplane to fly children with cancer and their families to get access to treatment, to reunite their families or to take them to the places of their dreams.

If you fundraise £100 or more for Fly Through Cancer, your name will be painted on the fuselage of our specially-equipped aeroplane as soon as we raise enough money to buy it. This will demonstrate that you are helping so many people in the U.K. and around the world. No matter what region or country the aeroplane is flying to, your name will go with us.

Preparation

In preparation for the event, you can join us in several free 15-minute workshops happening around Cambridge. We will email all participants with dates and locations. If you can't attend a workshop, we will send you a few videos and emails with all you need to know for the big day!

FAQs

Why are you attempting to break a Guinness World Record?

At our charity, all our work and campaigns are positive and inspiring. You will never find us making cash street collections, cold calls, door to door campaigns or even using distressing photos or videos.

The Guinness Official Attempt is a positive way to bring the community together to help offer life-changing solutions for many sick children and their families.

We are currently fundraising to acquire a specially-equipped aeroplane to support the transport of children with cancer and their families. You can learn more about it here. We hope that the Guinness World Record Official Attempt will help us achieve this important milestone.

What sort of paper will the planes be made from?

The paper is 100% recycled paper. After the event all the planes will be collected by us for recycling.

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate in the event?

Yes, all participants need to be 7 years or older on the date of the event.

I bought a ticket but I can't attend the event anymore. What should I do?

It is extremely important that you let us know you won't be attending the event. Please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite's website or email us at hello@pleasetakemethere.org. We can then ensure that we offer the place to another participant on the waiting list.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Yes, please. The Guinness World Record requires that we make an accurate count of the participants involved in the Official Attempt. The paper ticket is one of several methods we will use.

Is my ticket transferrable?

Yes, please go online and update the participant's details.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Please email us at hello@pleasetakemethere.org or call us at 01223 653 133.
