Event Details

John Etheridge

John Etheridge rightly enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the jazz world and beyond and has been described by Pat Metheny as, “One of the best guitarists in the world”.

He is a prodigiously gifted and creative player whose approach to music can only be described as ‘eclectic’ as he refuses to accommodate or even acknowledge artificial musical boundaries. His range is well illustrated by his years of touring and recording with the iconic Stephane Grappelli while simultaneously doing likewise with the legendary jazz-fusion group, The Soft Machine.

John is equally at home on acoustic and electric guitar and his willingness to engage with so many styles is matched by his ability to excel in any of them. He has played with John Williams, Yehudi Menuhin, Dizzie Gillespie, Herb Ellis, Mundell Lowe, Nigel Kennedy, Pat Metheny, Birelli Lagrene, Barney Kessel, Vic Juris and countless others. John’s ability as an outstanding composer is sometimes overlooked but he is often under pressure from audiences to feature more of his own material.

with Tim Lapthorn: piano • Jeremy Shoham: sax • Phil Scragg: bass • Rick Finlay: drums

FAQs
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There is on-street parking in the roads round the pub.
Colindale underground station (Northern Line) is a short walk away.

Can I pay on the night?
Yes, for those who haven't pre-booked there is a collection at the interval (although you won't be entitled to the discount on meals). We do expect you to contribute the normal admission fee unless you qualify for a concessionary rate.

Are there any concessions?
There is a lower ticket price for students in full-time education. Students and unwaged can also turn up on the night and pay whatever you like (or even nothing). We want you to be able to enjoy the music, and maybe you'll come back and pay the full admission in better times…

Accessibility
Deaf and disabled people can apply for an extra ticket, free of charge, if they would be unable to attend a gig or outdoor event without the active support of another person.
We encourage our audience to book online (we are too small to have a full-time box office) but if you have any difficulties booking on Eventbrite just call us on 020 8361 0265.

The Chandos Arms welcomes assistance dogs (or indeed all friendly dogs) on leads

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Don’t hesitate to call Rick at Just East of Jazz on 020 8361 0265 for questions about the gig.
For queries about the pub — food, drink, access and so on, call the pub on 020 8200 0032.
