Battle of the Bands but… just for a solo artist? We’ve got you covered! Singer-songwriters of Newcastle, get your guitars tuned up & lyrics at the ready as guitarguitar is hosting its first ever unplugged singer-songwriter competition!

Who Is This For?

Here at guitarguitar, we believe there’s nothing better than an event for musicians, by musicians. So we’ve decided to throw our first ever singer-songwriter talent show to help local musicians get heard. Whether you’re already playing gigs, posting songs online, experimenting in the studio, or just starting out - this is your chance to shine! Solo artists, duos, even trios are welcome. If you’ve got songs to share, we want to hear them.

The event will take place live at guitarguitar Newcastle in front of an audience - just like a real gig.

How To Enter

• Submissions open: Wednesday 1st October 2025
• Deadline: Wednesday 15th October 2025 (end of day)

Terms & Conditions

A panel of guitarguitar staff will select six finalists based on: musicianship, performance and originality.

Artists can perform both cover and original songs.

Entrants must be 16+ years of age.

The chosen acts will be contacted via the e-mail provided no later than by Wednesday 22nd October and invited to compete at the live show in front of an audience, taking place at guitarguitar Newcastle on Thursday the 6th November at 7:30 pm.

Backline (amps / PA / monitors) will be provided. Artists must bring their own instruments, pedalboards, and breakables.

The Prizes

The 6 finalists’ performances will be judged by a jury panel made up of guitarguitar staff and audience members.

There will be special prizes sponsored by our partners for this event: Alvarez and D'Addario and of course guitarguitar, for 3rd, 2nd and 1st place. The prizes are as follows:

1st place - Alvarez Masterworks MF60 Herringbone acoustic guitar

2nd place - a year supply of acoustic D’Addario XS strings (12 sets) + a selection of acoustic guitar accessories

3rd place - guitarguitar Gift Card worth £50
