Guy McPherson - London - Abrupt Climate Change and a Life of Excellence
Event Information
Description
Climate, Change and a Life of Excellence - with atmospheric Carbon Dioxide levels expected to exceed the critical limit of 2C above baseline, global warming is a modern fact of life and at the end of 2015 in Paris, world governments will decide our collective fate.
Transition to a post-fossil fuel economy is the biggest challenge ever faced by humanity. Who better to inform us of the often startling facts behind those headline global trends than our speaker, Dr. Guy McPherson?
Guy is Professor Emeritus of Natural Resources at the University of Arizona, where he has taught and conducted research for over twenty years and produced 11 books and hundreds of articles. Biosystems scientist, social commentator, thought leader and author - he is an energetic speaker and talented moderator.
He speaks about the consequences of our fossil-fuel addiction and its impact on every aspect of life on Earth.
We catch up with Prof. McPherson as he tours Europe to engage us in “Abrupt Climate Change and Pursuing a Life of Excellence”. With disarming frankness, humility and some humour, he asks us to face the prospect of the demise of society as we know it and gently encourages us to consider what we might do as individuals, communities and society to live through and thrive beyond abrupt environmental and climate change.
The first step towards a sustainable future is to understand the reality of this moment. How should we live, now that we are so much better informed?
