Event Information
Description
Guy Sangster-Adams with Alexander Mayor
Pop poet, Guy Sangster-Adams, and multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, Alexander Mayor (front man of Alexander’s Festival Hall http://www.alexandersfestivalhall.org/ and formerly one third of Baxendale) performing new tracks following on from their collaboration on Guy Sangster-Adams' well received debut EP, To the Fore.
“Guy Sangster-Adams combines a poet’s eye with an art rocker’s ear to offer brilliantly observed and subtly woven, lyrical and pop cultural romantic tales. Shot through with wit, wisdom and a touch of old fashioned whimsy, Guy’s writing and delivery combine brilliantly with Alexander Mayor’s accompanying music. If you like your poetry stirred but not shaken turn on and tune in to this excellent debut EP”
– Murray Lachlan Young, poet, broadcaster, BBC6 Music poet-in-residence
“I love To the Fore. It is a wonderful work of art fashioned from two great kindred spirits, Guy Sangster-Adams and Alexander Mayor. It reminds me of songs I love from the past, like Squeeze’s Up the Junction and the first Soft Cell album, as well as Roxy Music and Pulp"
– Cathi Unsworth, novelist
'Guy Sangster-Adams struts forward in inimitable style with perfect electronic accompaniment from Alexander Mayor. Having witnessed his always original and uplifting poetry live, it’s really great to hear it in this new environment. I look forward to seeing him do this at a show with the added sonic infusions which create an even stronger concoction of his irresistible wit and wisdom'
– Will Crewdson, aka Scant Regard, guitarist, songwriter, producer (incl. Adam Ant, Rachel Stamp, The Selecter, Bow Wow Wow)
