1 day course for multi-agency staff & volunteers across Gwent, who may come into contact with staff/general public disclosing domestic abuse

About this event

Provider: New Pathways

Aims and Objectives:

• To understand sexual violence and sexual abuse

• To define rape and sexual abuse

• Describe the prevalence of sexual violence

• Identify common myths and stereotypes and their impact

• Describe some of the long and short term consequences or rape and sexual abuse

• Identify a range of sexual abuse and trauma responses

• Describe how rape in different circumstances may impact on individuals

• Consider their own boundaries and role when working with sexual violence

• Identify key elements of good practice

• Explain the importance of forensic integrity

• Describe the range of support available

Prerequisites:

• Must be working in Gwent. This training is open to all partners, staff and organizations across Gwent.

Access:

• This course is delivered via MS Teams it is virtual, however, it is designed to incorporate virtual versions of in class activities. You will need to access via a suitable device such as a laptop or desktop computer (mobile phones do not provide the functionality required)

• Joining instructions will be sent out when your application has been approved.

Booking:

• All dates are scheduled and places open for booking 5 weeks prior to training.

• You can save a date in the future to your diary and then click the "Notify me" button so you will get a reminder when places are open for booking.

• You will receive an email from the course provider in the week prior to the training with login information and further course details.
