Description

Since the 1800's when Anna, Duchess of Bedford would soon become hungry, afternoon tea became a fashionable social event. During the 1800's, aristocratic woman would change into long gowns, gloves and hats for their afternoon tea and it became a great social event.

The Formal Gardens at Gwrych Castle played host to such events during the time of the Countess of Dundonald - now is your chance to relive such an occasion.




Cream Tea – £15.00 per person (£10 for under 16s)

The afternoon tea includes:

Pot of Welsh tea
Two fruit scones, strawberry preserve, clotted cream
A slice of Bara Brith with butter

Cream Tea with Prosecco – £20.00 per person

Following cream tea, guests are encouraged to explore the most recently restored part of Gwrych Castle - the Formal Gardens. During this time, our volunteer gardeners will be on hand to answer any of your green fingered questions. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about Gwrych Castle's fascinating history and the current work of Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust.

Accessibility:

Access to the Formal Gardens includes a gentle gradient. Some parts of the gardens include steps which may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Parking:

Parking is located on site.

Dogs:

Dogs are allowed providing they are on a short lead.

Toilets:

Toilets are located on site.

Access to the castle via the Abergele Gate Lodge at the junction of Abergele Road (A547) and Tan-y-Gopa Road.



All funds raised go to Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust and the continued restoration of the castle.
