Musical Celebration Line Up - Harlech Castle

CALAN

Dubbed "the new ambassadors of Welsh cool" have come a long way since busking the streets of Cardiff. They are now festival favourites, blasting their way through old reels, jugs and hornpipes and then seamlessly morphing into mellow and haunting songs. With their unique instrumental blend, not to mention the percussive sound of the Welsh clogs, Calan's line-up is Patrick Rimes (fiddle, bagpipes, whistle,); fiddler Angharad Sian Jenkins; Bethan Rhiannon - main vocal, accordion and step dancing, Alaw Jones on harp and Sam Humphries on guitar.

VRï

VRï are a new and exciting string trio from Wales, who’s objective is to present their native traditional music in a chamber music aesthetic. Although their roots are in Wales and the backbone of their repertoire is Welsh, VRï make a point of blending other traditional musics from around Europe, and have been heavily influenced the ‘chamber-folk’ artists from both sides of the Atlantic.

Elfen

Stacey Blythe, Helina Rees, and Jordan Williams create a distinctive and soulful soundtrack for a new folk music in Wales. With the ancient songs and tunes of the Cymry at their heart, Elfen are re imagining the traditional.

Bernard Kilbride said, “Soulful voice, beautiful fiddle, sweet harp and accordion, velvety bass – an exciting new Welsh trio”
