A walk discovering eight commissioned artworks installed along the Grand Union Canal which are related to the themes of Japanese Connections. Canal History. Fish. Fowl Insects and Invetebrates. Walk duration about 1 hour. - Meet some of the artists on the day

The Gyosei Art Trail was created for local residents to enjoy. Completed in 2016 the trail consists of eight pieces in total with each piece relating to the themes of Japanese connections, canal history, and natural history. Pieces to see on the trail include Arachne Weaves by Linda Johns along the Canal Boardwalk, which takes inspiration from how a spider makes its web; Ptolemy Elrington’s Dragonfly made from recovered materials; Melanie Watt's Mosaic of a barn owl called Autumn Splendour; Andrew Kay’s life-size shire horse; Seven panels of "Local Birds and Plants’ by Laura Boswell; ‘What Lies Beneath’; Rob Griffiths produced a superb solid oak bench; A bench by Jermey Turner based inspired by traditional Japanese tatami mats and a multi-layered stainless steel map of the art trail by Justin Tunley that frames the foundation stone from the Gyosei School.

Meet at Gyosei Gardens, at the end of Sakura Walk, Willen Park South. MK15 9EL. - Parking is very limited as this is a residential area. Please walk or cycle, if you can, or park in The Parks Trust - Peace Pagoda car park, off Brickhill Street, Willen (charges apply). The trail is located on both sides of the Grand Union Canal from H3 Monks Way to H5 Portway and is accessible from the local redway network."
