We've been smoking salmon for over 100 years in London's East End. While the area has changed our methods have not. Come and take part in a piece of London's gastronomic history, discover London's only remaining family-owned smokehouse and find out everything you want to know about the production of the world's finest smoked salmon.
Located on the waterfront adjacent to the Olympic Park just opposite the stadium, the building alone is worth the visit. The tour begins with coffee & tea and a talk in our restaurant by Lance Forman on the history of H. Forman & Son which goes back over a hundred years. Following this you will kit up in protective gear to descend into the smokehouse where we will show you the process of producing the world’s finest smoked Scottish salmon including a smoked salmon carving demonstration on the factory floor by Darren Matson, Guinness World Record Holder in salmon carving, who beat Gordon Ramsay to the prize.
Afterwards, you will take a seat in Forman’s, the onsite riverside Restaurant and Bar which has an incredible view of the Olympic Stadium and a viewing gallery into the smokehouse. It is here where you will enjoy a smoked salmon tasting platter, accompanied by a bottle of still or sparkling water. Drinks are available at the bar.
If there is an exhibition on at the time you will have the opportunity to walk through Forman’s Smokehouse art gallery, a spectacular contemporary art project space on the top floor of the Smokehouse.
At the end of your experience you will receive a complimentary packet of smoked salmon to take away. There is also the possibility of booking an afternoon masterclass with Darren.
