Event description
Doorstep Library are holding a private screening of documentary, H is for Harry.

About this Event

We are delighted to have been given the fantastic opportunity to hold a private screening of the film H is for Harry , followed by a special Q&A with the film's Directors Edward Owles and Jaime Taylor.

Giving the viewer a first-hand look at the links between poverty and low literacy levels, H is for Harry is a coming of age documentary about 11-year-old Harry, following his journey as he arrives at a new secondary school in suburban London, unable to read or write.

This devastating and thought-provoking story highlights the array of challenges we face in our current education system, the documentary is a powerful reminder of what can happen when a child struggles to learn to read and write and the impact it has on their hopes, dreams and future opportunities.

Here at Doorstep Library, we know how much these barriers can impede on a child’s future successes which is why we exist to help as many of these children as possible.

We believe in the power of words to take children places. We want to see a world where all children can thrive in homes in which books are celebrated and a love of reading is embraced.

The documentary further reinforces this belief which is why we are truly honoured to be able to push the conversation forward and continue to shed light on the issues raised by holding a private screening of the film thanks to Grosvenor who have made us their charity of the year.

We're really excited to have the opportunity to share our work with Grosvenor and their partners and we look forward to being involved in all their fantastic fundraising efforts to help us continue to support children like Harry.
