Event description

Description

Habitat fragmentation and loss and are significant known causes of pollinator declines in the UK.

This conference is for Oxfordshire's Local Environment Groups - Through land management advice and case studies we hope to demonstrate that this is within the power and capability of every community group and parish council to do more to help bumble bees and other pollinators.

The day will begin with Gill Perkins, CEO of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust giving a national perspective of bumble bees and their conservation. James Gillies (100 Meadows Project) will follow with practical advice on small meadow / wild flower patch creation and management. Parish councils and community groups who are already working to provide habitat for pollinators will show case their inspiring work and will be on hand to answer questions.

The day will conclude with walk over of Chadlington Village in the company of local experts who will identify pollinators and the habitats that are important to them at various stages of their life-cycles.

We are grateful for the support of Smiths and Sons (Bletchington) and the Patsy Wood Trust.
