Date is confirmed! HackStart will take place on the 8th April 2017
Hackstart aims to inspire 14-19 year olds to take a deeper interest in Computer Science with a day of workshops and tech talks organised and run by first-year students at UCL. As students, we hope to pass on our passion for technology to young people and encourage them to follow us into the field we love.
With topics ranging from game engineering to web design, a series of workshops will run throughout the day to cater for all abilities, from beginner to advanced. No previous experience in computer science is necessary, so don’t worry if you’ve never done any coding before or don’t know tonnes about computer science. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to learn some theory, get your hands on some code and speak to our current students about computer science.
Lunch and snacks will be provided:D
Just bring yourself, your friends, some enthusiasm and have fun!
A Parental Consent form will be emailed out nearer to the time of the event. You’ll need to bring ID as well as the signed parental consent form on the day or you might not be able to participate.
Parents of attendees, please do NOT get tickets as this will prevent other 14-19 year olds getting tickets.
If needed, parents can accompany attendees into the event :)
How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Can I attend if I am not aged 14-19?
We are open to other ages attending the event if you are really interested. Just send an email to us, and we can send you an access code, and we will also answer any questions you may have.
Should I bring a laptop or other hardware?
Laptops and desktops will be provided throughout the day.
Attendees can bring laptops and other hardware if they want, but we cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage of these.
