Hacking the Energy System - Introduction to the Energy System

An Introduction to the Energy System is a primer for attendees of Hacking the Energy System who are new to the subject and want to learn more.
We've scheduled this session in response to requests from attendees of the main conference who want to ensure they fully understand the issues discussed during the event.
Emilia Melville of Burro Hapold and Max Wakefield of 10:10 introduce key idea and concepts behind the UK's Energy System, including a brief overview of:
- The system's history and development
- It's physical infrastructure
- The organisations that participate, maintain and operate it
- New and emergying trends
- The role of citizen participation and democracy
Emilia and Max are part of a collective authoring a simple guide to the energy system for energy democracy campaigners.
The session will take place in the same location as Hacking the Energy System Conference and will end in enough time to allow you to participate in the event.
