Why become a Clothing Collective Runner?

Clothing Collective are set up to support people in our community who struggle to clothe themselves. The homeless, unemployed, single parents, the elderly, ex-offenders, migrants and people living in poverty.

We do this by providing access to the clothes at charity shops throughout the UK through our partnerships with the Charity Retail Association and The Charity Shop Gift Card.

Not only are the people we support gaining access to clean quality clothes, helping to resore thier dignity during the process of shopping for themselves where they can choose thier own styles, colours and sizes, but via the giftcards we provide those funds are also contributing to the charity shops own good causes.

In effect every one's a winner!

"The gift cards provided a transformative impact, enabling our team to provide proactive responses to the needs and requests of those supported. They allowed individuals to purchase warm coats and shoes, addressing immediate needs for warmth. Beyond the practical benefits, the opportunity to shop inspired and empowered those, who don't have an opportunity to chose clothes, those who don't have income and have no recourse to public funds. "It was freezing and I could not go out, now I have coat, shoes and socks. I am so thankful and I can go to places", "I felt like a human, I felt I am important, it was such a good experience to do shopping. Choosing and buying clothes for myself, is something I forgot when I done last time".

"As a homeless charity who works with adults in any situation they are in, helping navigate life, clothing is a important part of the work as it helps alleviate some of the burdens they are facing. It is a lifeline, specially in winter, when they need proper shoes, jackets, hat, gloves, to keep warm".

Terms & Conditions

Sometimes, runners look to utilise the places we have access to irrelevant of fundraising and are willing to incur the costs of the event themselves.

Clothing Collective rely on these events to raise funds for our charity to finance our activies and we will be billed £105 + 8% Eventbrite fee for your place irrelevant of you taking part or not once you register, so we need to hedge this risk to ensure you will be able to cover these costs for us with the required fundraising from you within the specified times.

All of our fantastic runners are required to fundraise a minimum target of £250 and must have raised a minimum of £100 of this by 10th January '26. If the total minimum fundraising target is not acheived within 7 days after the time of the event, you agree to make up the difference so the target of £250 is achieved. Please note, failure to fundraise the minimum £100 by the 10th January '26 may lead to Clothing Collective revoking your place without notice, offering your place to another person on our wait list to mimimise our potential loss. This is because we have a limited time available to find a replacement to cover the costs we will incur before the event registration deadline.

ALL fundraising will go towards supporting Clothing Collective in thier charitable objectives of providing access to clothes, less the £105 registartion fee the charity will be charged by the event organiser for the full payment of your registration in the event + 8% Eventbrite tranaction fee.

Please note there are NO refunds on purchases, Clothing Collective pays a fee on every transaction and when you ask for a refund we still have to pay the fee.

Please note that by registering to run the Hackney Half Marathon, you are agreeing to receive information to your email address about the race.

It’s an unavoidable experience felt by many moving throughout cities across the country; the moment in which you notice an individual with nothing left. People who, with little to no support network, and perhaps without money, food, clothes or shelter, live in our country under society’s radar.

In these moments, we're left to make a choice. Should we be giving this person money or should we be supporting them some other way? If we do give them money directly, perhaps we're not truly helping and just exacerbating their situation?

One question seems to underpin every encounter of this kind: how can we best support these people?
