Wed 21 June 2017, 18:30 – 20:00 BST
A tour of the newly refurbished public spaces of Hackney Town Hall, a fine example of a high quality municipal architecture, rich in local memories, and originally completed in 1937 to designs by Lanchester and Lodge. The tour will be led by Chloe Marshall, interior designer at Hawkins\Brown Architects, who led the recent restoration programme, which after ten years restores the building to a pristine condition and has created new space to serve the public and council. Tour starts outside main entrance and to include Reception, Atria, Marriage Suites and Council Chamber as well as Assembly Halls, although itinerary may be subject to change.
The tours are part of the London Festival of Architecture, and are being made possible through the participation of Hackney Council and Hawkins\Brown Architects. They are free to join, but advanced booking is essential.
