Haddington & Lammermuir Hustings - HUMBIE 2017
Wed 12 April 2017, 19:30 – 21:30 BST
All candidates standing for election for the enlarged Haddington & Lammermuir ward for East Lothian Council have agreed to attend to answer your questions. Four councillors, there are currently 7 candidates declared, will be elected to represent the ward which now comprises Bolton, East & West Saltoun, Garvald & Morham, Gifford, Haddington, Humbie, Pencaitland, Ormiston and surrounding area.
The Hustings will take the same form as previous Hustings in Humbie. There will be an independent chair who will invite each candidate to make a short (3 minute) presentation before questions are presented to the candidates from the audience.
Questions should be as concise as possible and should focus on issues which are the responsibility of the local authority. Scotland's 32 local authorities are responsible for providing a range of public services which include: education, social care, roads and transport, economic development, housing and planning, environmental protection, waste management, cultural and leisure services.
Every effort will be made to give candidates the opportunity to respond equally over the course of the evening.
Humbie Kirk will be open from 7.00 pm and the event will commence at 7.30 pm prompt.
We are grateful to Humbie Kirk Session for allowing the use of the Church for this event and the evening will commence with a prayer.
