Walk 12: Bushcraft and Foraging

Led by the knowledgable Jono from Bushcraft Devon, explore the forest with a focus on local fauna, flora and how we can interact with them.

Forestry England is excited to deliver a programme of themed walks in partnership with Age UK Devon at Haldon Forest Park near Exeter.

Join us every first and third Monday of the month from March to September 2024, for guided walks with artists, storytellers and experts in wellbeing and bushcraft!

These slow paced, social walks are open to everyone aged over 50. Walks are free of charge and include a well-earned hot drink and cake in the café afterwards.

Haldon Forest Park is here to help you be more active this year with weekly walks, free beginner activity courses, parkrun, and Park Yoga!

Useful information:

Where: Haldon Forest Park, EX6 7XR.

Meeting point: Silver Visitor Information 'POD' next to the cafe.

Parking: Free, please park in the main visitor car park and ask the walk leader for a ticket.

When: Walks start at 10am, please arrive in good time.

Duration: Sessions usually end within 2 hours.

Cost: Free to over 50s. Includes parking and hot drink/cake at the end.

Facilities: Toilets including accesible cubicle available at the main visitor centre. Lovely Cafe serving hot drinks and food.

Difficulty: We tailor the walks to the least able participant. Expect a slow paced walk with frequent rest stops. Maximum distance 2 miles. Routes may include some hills which we can tackle slowly.

What to bring?: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring any medication you may require and report relevant conditions to the walk leader.

Dogs welcome: Well behaved dogs welcome. Must be kept on a lead at all times. All waste must be picked up and disposed of in the bins provided.
