About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours 45 minutes
  • Ages 16+
  • Free venue parking

A shared, intentional walk through the beauty of the Marches. Enjoy the peace of silence, the support of community, the ritual of retreat and the nourishment of being in nature.

This gathering is for anyone who has been carrying a lot.

You might be moving through a time of grief, feeling stuck or numb, facing the challenge of change, holding something complex, or navigating a transition - whether it’s one you’ve chosen or one that’s arrived uninvited.

Whatever you’re experiencing, and wherever you are in your process, you are welcome here.

We’ll spend around 4.5 hours together in total, walking a stretch of the Mortimer Trail in the Marches, near the England/Wales border. The walk itself is approximately 4.5 miles, with some short but reasonably steep hills and stretches of uneven ground.

We’ll move at a pace that feels right for the group, pausing along the way for gentle enquiry, drinks and delicious nibbles to energise us. Our plant-based lunch will be followed by a deep relaxation practice and an invitation to reflect on the day; releasing and receiving whatever has felt useful for you.

This isn’t a hike focussed on a destination - it’s an intentional space to walk with what is. To walk with each other. To walk with the land.

Everything we offer is invitational.

There are no expectations here - you are welcome to participate in whatever way feels right for you. If you don’t feel like sharing on the day, that’s absolutely okay.

The day will weave together opportunities for:

  • Intention setting, reflective writing and gentle enquiry
  • Shared walking, silent walking and maybe simple song
  • Quiet reflection; sharing in pairs or together in community
  • Nature-based connection, ritual and guided meditation
  • Rest, release, and nourishment - lunch and refreshments are included

Along the way, we’ll pause. Listen. Discover. Allow.

We’ll rest on the land. Gather round the fire. Let nature offer us its symbols and gifts.

And when the time comes, we’ll return home - perhaps with a little more space inside.

You don’t need to have been on a retreat before, or be a writer, singer or experienced walker - just bring your presence, your walking shoes, and whatever you feel drawn to walk with.

With love,

Henny & Grace

Shared reflections

I just wanted to appreciate the beauty and thoughtfulness of the walking retreat last Sunday. It was profound and so relaxing and nourishing. I appreciate all the attention to detail and the way you both held it so sensitively and with such attunement. Leya

Generous, attuned and beautifully held Kohra

The walking day was hugely important to me. Thank you both for your gentle encouragement and support. Jo

Throughout I felt accepted, nurtured and understood. It was as though every need had been anticipated. In life I always put the needs of others before my own, I always have and I am aware of it. The walking retreat was probably the first time in years that I was being cared for in such an accepting and non-judgemental way. Thank you for your kindness, wise words and humour (the day was such fun too). Jane

Who We Are

These walks are gently held by Grace Loveday and Henny Flynn.

We’re both deeply rooted in practices that honour the natural world, the wisdom of the body, and the quiet unfolding of inner change. Our shared intention is to create spaces that are open, inclusive and nourishing – where nothing is forced and everything is welcome.

Together, we hold space with warmth and care – allowing each person to be just as they are, whether they’re ready to speak, to walk in silence, to share, or simply to rest.

Grace is a mindfulness meditation teacher, somatic practitioner and interfaith minister, supporting people through the challenges of death and grief. She offers 1-to-1 work and group work, co-holding the Grief Space for healing, support and connection. Her work is grounded in gentle presence, embodied enquiry, and the sacredness of everyday life.

Henny offers solo and group work for those who are ready to explore what is asking to be met. Her work is not about fixing or striving. It’s about staying awake to what is real, even when the pull to turn away is strong. Through compassionate self-enquiry, Flow Journaling and honest reflection, Henny offers a calm, steady space where people can meet themselves more deeply and come home – to themselves, to their lives – with kindness and clarity. She shares reflections through her books, podcasts and weekly emails.

Frequently asked questions

Where will we meet?

We’ll be walking a stretch of the Mortimer Trail near Lingen, close to the England/Wales border. Full details of the meeting point, parking and timings will be sent after booking.

How long is the walk?

The walk itself is approximately 4.5 miles with some hilly and uneven ground, but we’ll take our time, pausing often and moving at a pace that feels right for the group.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all. You don’t need to be a seasoned walker, writer, singer or meditator – just come as you are. Everything we offer is invitational. You’re warmly welcome to participate in whatever way feels right for you.

What should I bring?

Comfortable walking shoes or boots. A water bottle. Weather-appropriate layers (we’ll be outside in all but heavy rain) and a walking-pole if you prefer to use one. You may want something to sit on for when we pause.

What’s included?

All guidance and materials for reflective practices and ritual. A nourishing plant-based lunch - gluten-free and dairy-free friendly. Hot drinks and light refreshments along the walk.

What if it rains?

We’ll go ahead in light rain but if the forecast is poor, we’ll offer an alternative date as soon as possible. If you can’t make the new date, your ticket can either be refunded or you're very welcome to transfer it to another person. Lunch will be served under cover if the day is damp.

Can I bring my dog?

As much as we love to walk with dogs, to help us all stay attentive to ourselves, and each other, this walk is for humans only.

What if I’m not sure whether to come?

If you have any questions about the walk, your needs, or whether it’s right for you, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to chat things through with no pressure at all.
