Event description
In a town with a history stretching back over 2,000 years, you’d expect there to be some stories that'll make your hair stand on end!

About this Event

Rochester, Kent today looks the epitome of a town steeped in history, with the second-oldest cathedral in the UK and the most original Norman Castle Keep in the World.

But delve just below the surface and Rochester shows it's darker side. It's MUCH, MUCH DARKER SIDE!

Join RHWT’s founder, Shane Waterman, as he takes you on a ‘walk into the unknown’ around the sites and locations with some pretty ghastly stories to tell....

The ghostly imprints left by the Romans...The Demon that ‘lives’ in a local park...The forgotten 14th century monk, only discovered 600 years after he disappeared...The strange coincidence of two murders – 100 years apart. The highly profitable scam created by men of the cloth, to make a fortune out of the murder of a humble baker...The secret escape of a King of England from a humble home in the High Street...... and the dark secret of a now-gentile home right in the heart of Rochester... THREE of whose occupants met their ends by being executed by the State.

Please note: this walk is conducted at night time and contains content that may not be suitable for children or those of a nervous disposition – YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..!

Children MUST be in Year 6 or above.

Bring a torch... because the night is dark, and full of... TERRORS!

IMPORTANT and LEGAL STUFF:

All our walks are offered on a DONATION ONLY basis. We do not want anyone prevented from joining due to cost, so we leave it to you to decide how much you want to, or can afford, to pay at the end.

PLEASE wear suitable footwear - ALL Rochester pavements are either made to look 'olde worlde' or really are! They come with all the 'olde worlde' opportunities for twisted ankles etc etc, so please leave your stilettos at home. That goes for the ladies too!

As this walk will certainly end in the dark, you are STRONGLY advised to bring a decent torch with you for the latter stages. Some street lighting is very 'period' and visibility may be low.
