About this event

Come and join the community vibe at our live music pop-up event and help keep the rock 'n' roll music heritage of the Community Centre alive!

After the storming success of our first 'Almost Halloween Party' last October, we're thrilled to do it all over again!

Get in the real spirit of Halloween and come in your scariest Fancy Dress outfit - the best costume will win 2 tickets to a future Hanwell Cavern event!

Prepare to be thoroughly entertained by two of your favourite killer acts, with their ghoulish grooves and maybe even murder on the dancefloor...

THE GRIM FACE MARYS

THE VAMPIRE BATS (double set with a serious risk of dancing, be warned)

Come and support these fab bands and join us all in kicking off the weekend and the Halloween season with some great live music!

More info, pics and links for all the bands and artists further down this page, plus info about the venue and its musical history too.

IMPORTANT EVENT INFO BELOW - please read in advance!

• Doors open at 7pm, the show starts at 7.30pm

• Mix of ticket options available - you can reserve a whole table just for your party, or pay a little less for unreserved seating (this sometimes means having to share a table with others, or just having a seat and no table if you get there late)

• No hidden ticket fees - the price listed is the price you pay

• Advance ticket purchase only, NO tickets on the door

• BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze!) - we have glasses, ice buckets & bottle openers, just ask at the bar

• NO ALCOHOL FOR SALE but we have a decent dry bar, selling a selection of non-alcoholic beers, ales and stout, soft drinks and mixers, as well as crisps, nuts, popcorn etc.

• FOOD - We would kindly ask that you don't bring your own food or snacks to the venue and support our not-for-profit bar or the cafe upstairs instead, which will help us all reduce food waste too.

• The community Corner Cafe upstairs is usually open until 8.30pm for sandwiches, toasties and hot drinks - please consume anything you buy there upstairs, rather than in the music venue.

• Entrance to The Hanwell Cavern is separate to the main community centre entrance - it's underground, so head to the left of the car park and down the little slope.

• On arrival, please show your Eventbrite ticket on your mobile (or bring a printed copy)

• Free car park (space for 50 cars) and cycle racks

• Closest train station: Castlebar Park. Bus routes: E11, E1, E3

• More info & photos from past events on our Facebook page - search @TheHanwellCavern

Thanks as always for the kind and generous support of local business Johal & Co. As a small, not-for-profit local charity, this is invaluable to us and hugely appreciated.

If you have any questions or need further info about the event, or if you want to be added to our mailing list to be kept informed of future events, please contact us on info@h3c.org.uk.

We look forward to seeing you there!

THE HALLOWEEN LINE-UP :

THE GRIM FACE MARYS

Fighting a battle against toxic positivity, celebrating all that it is to be human, the good and the bad, with their eclectic mix of indie folk rock, The Grim Face Marys aim to raise your spirits and rattle your bones.

If Wednesday Addams raided her parents' record collection and invited Nick Cave to form a band, adding a big splash of Gogol Bordello, you might just come close to the melancholic mirth and mayhem of the Marys.

THE VAMPIRE BATS

This 5-star 5-piece plays a wide variety of rock, pop and funk classics, from Bowie to Mr Blue Sky - McCartney to The Monkees, Stevie Wonder to Santana. They will have you stomping your feet, singing out loud and dancing on the tables! The BATS of Ealing were formed in 2002, and feature Bill on guitar/vocals, Alan (the ex-Chiswick milkman) on drums/vocals, Terry on vocals/guitar and Graham on bass. Simon completes their sound on vocals and keys and sax. Of the many gigs at parties, pubs, and private events over the years, it’s all about that groove!

ABOUT THE HANWELL CAVERN™

In the past, many well know bands and musicians played gigs or rehearsed in various rooms at Hanwell Community Centre including The Who, Deep Purple, Procol Harum, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, The Sweet, Manfred Mann, Gene Vincent, The Animals, Jerry Lee Lewis - and others! The historic Grade II listed building is also where Charlie Chaplin attended school as a child when it was the Central London District School aka Cuckoo Schools, and it is steeped in history.

Today, the vaulted basement of the centre gets transformed by volunteers from an empty walk way and delivery area, into an atmospheric, underground pop-up venue called The Hanwell Cavern™ where we host live music events about once a month. All events are not-for-profit, and are run by a small charity of volunteers called Hanwell Community Centre Consortium. Our regular live music events often feature local bands and musicians from Hanwell and the Borough of Ealing. Together we are trying to keep Hanwell's music heritage alive and kicking - come and join in!

We truly appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you to The Hanwell Cavern™.
