Hamble River meander with refreshments
Immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the countryside with a leisurely riverside gravel walk, perfect for recharging and capturing the moment. Stroll alongside gently flowing waters, watch boats drift by and soak in the peaceful charm of nature. Midway, pause for a refreshing break at the Mermaid Cafe.
On the day

The nearest train station is Bursledon train station (11 minute walk).
The nearest bus stop - Swanwick Shore Road X4 or X5 Solent Ranger
Please wear suitable clothes for the weather and stout walking shoes or trainers. Bring along:
- a bottle of water
- money or payment card if you'd like a drink at the cafe (optional)
- sunhat and suncream
- camera or phone (optional)
We will end the walk back at the car park.
Please Note:
Walk grade: Medium - a gravel trail with two short gentle slopes
Who should attend: All welcome. Sorry pets are not allowed to join a led walk unless they are a guide or assistance dog.
Child friendly: Yes - any under 18s attending any of the activities must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Some unfenced track above waterside drop.
Walk distance: 2.25 km
Facilities: Toilets are available at the cafe (halfway).
Access: A gravel track, mainly packed with brief sections of a yard or so looser gravel, with two gentle short slopes, some uneven camber. There is an unfenced wide track above waterside drop. A large kissing gate that can be avoided. The only seating available is at the start and at cafe.
