Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

Created by the Proud Voices organisation, Hand in Hand is a celebration of LGBT+ singing and the importance of creating music and supporting LGBT+ community life. Every two years choirs from across the UK and Ireland join together for a weekend of singing, workshops, socialising and celebrations. The first two festivals were based in London and the third in Brighton, so we are really delighted to bring it up north to Manchester. The weekend’s events will consist of 27 choirs each showcasing their singing across two venues within the Riyal Northern College of Music on 19th August, culminating in a public-access concert in the evening. The final day of the festival is called “Radical Sunday” and will take place at the People’s History Museum. This will involve a singing workshop for attendees, an awards ceremony for longevity of choir membership, performances from other local choirs, and the handover ceremony to Cardiff for 2019.

  • Please note event attendees must arrive at least ten minutes before the start time of the event, otherwise their booked space will be given to someone on the reserve list
  • Please contact the museum as soon as possible if you wish to cancel your reservation so your place can be given to another visitor
  • Please note all donations are non refundable
