Developed by StreetGames and England Handball, the workshop provides learners with game ideas and the basic rules of handball in order to introduce the sport to young people in their community.
Participants combine their existing coaching and leadership skills and experience with the games and challenges in the workshop to learn how to engage young people in handball for the first time.
By the end of the workshop attendees will be able to: understand handball and the fundamental skills needed to play; deliver basic handball activities to groups of young people; understand and apply basic rules for informal handball games; and organise handball challenges and social competitions.
Who is it for: Community sport project leaders, coaches and volunteers
Course prerequisites: There are no compulsory pre-requisites for this workshop. It offers the chance to build on skills previously gained through courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and 3 awards; national governing bodies of sports awards; and youth and community qualifications.
