Handel: Water Music 300
Mon 17 July 2017, 18:00 – 22:00 BST
presented with The Georgian Dining Academy.
To the day and even to the very hour, we mark the 300th anniversary of George Frederic Handel's masterpiece: The Water Music.
Our four hour summer cruise will transport you back in time to the very early days of Hanoverian rule when a waterborne orchestra played the inaugural performance of the Water Music for King George I on his royal barge. He was so pleased that he demanded they play it three times: it was a sensation.
The Georgian Dining Academy and London Historians will welcome you to this gala cruise with a 12 piece baroque orchestra playing live recitals the Water Music and other early Handel favourites, using period instruments. There will be buffet food in the style that our Georgian ancestors would recognise, a free welcome drink and cash bar.
In the Georgian Dining Academy tradition, our hostesses Miss Tina and Miss Kitty encourage you to don Georgian costume, although this is by no means essential.
Standard ticket price is £75. Special pricing for Members of London Historians, Friends of Handel House and Friends of the Foundling.
