Course outcomes
The course will equip trainers with the knowledge and skills to facilitate and deliver “Supporting Medication in Social Care Settings” within your organisation using material designed by ARC Scotland. At the end of this course you will be confident in delivering the following outcomes:-
- Understand what is meant by “The principles of care” in relation to handling medication, and how these should and can be applied when supporting any individual with their medication routine.
- Appreciate the importance of continuous risk assessment and individual circumstances & support plans.
- Have an appreciation of the legal framework which underpins the policies and procedures laid down by employers in relation to supporting people with their medication.
- Have an appreciation of both personal and organisational accountability and responsibility, and to know who makes the important decisions regarding medication.Be more confident about “Safe handling of medication”(The 7 ‘Rights’ when handling medication).
- Understand the importance of sharing information appropriately and working consistently with procedures in a team setting and when working alone.
- Recognise common issues, problems and dilemma’s.
- Be more familiar with organisation’s own policy on handling medication and supporting individuals with medication.

The course will be held by means of Webinar or similar social media platform.
It will be essential that you have a laptop with a camera and audio.

He is passionate about collaborative partnership working and supporting people to have a say in all decisions that affect their lives.
His approach in learning and development enables people to increase knowledge and practice within the work role.
Your cancellation charges
If you are unable to attend the course you are booked on, you may substitute, by prior arrangement and after notifying us, someone else from your organisation.
If you are unable to attend, and not in a position to transfer your place to another person, then the following charges will apply:
3-8 weeks' notice: 25% of fee
1-3 weeks' notice: 75% of fee
Less than 1 weeks’ notice: 100% of fee

Please note that full payment is required for non-attendance on a booking that has been transferred.
ARC Scotland events and courses are periodically updated and while we endeavour to deliver the courses as advertised there may inevitably be occasions where we have to change content without prior notice or, in exceptional circumstances, to cancel an event.
In the case of a course cancellation delegates will either be offered an alternative date, a credit note or a full refund and we will also consider any reasonable request to cover non-refundable travel arrangements if a course is cancelled within 2 working days of the start day.
