Event description
Try something new and make your own hand bound notebook, perfect as a gift to yourself or for a friend.

About this event

Join us for a lovely relaxing time making your own beautiful hardcover notebook. You will use lovely patterned papers to make a hardback cover for your notebook and then learn how to section and stitch together your book using Coptic stitching technique. This stitching technique allows the book to lay completely flat when open and is visible on the spine of the book, making an attractive feature.

Handmade by you, you can put your notebook to good use and you will treasure forever. Use as a journal, small photo album or a fabulous personalised gift for a friend. This is an opportunity to be creative, time for you to relax and try something new all in the beautiful setting of Nottinghamshire finest wine estates.

All materials, tools and refreshments are included and by the end of your session you will have made a lovely bounded notebook.

Outline of your session

  • Welcome with refreshments and meet your tutor Michaela.
  • Introduction to materials and tools.
  • Select colours and learn the stitches
  • Refreshments
  • Continue where you left off
  • Finish and depart with your notebook

Please note – all materials and refreshments including a snack are provided. Nothing to remember to bring, just yourself, it couldn’t be easier! So book now.

Organiser Rural Antics at Hanwell Wine Estate

Organiser of Handmade Bookbinding Workshop

Here at Hanwell Wine Estate, we love hosting Rural Antics workshops!

They enable us to open up the wonderful countryside setting of our vineyard to you, giving us all the opportunity to get closer to nature.

Hand-making great wine is a real craft and Rural Antics provides a space for us to involve interested people in our wine-making, alongside other artisan past times, such as chair weaving, foraging and painting.

Carpe diem – seize the day!
