Please note that this is a 2 part workshop and must be attended on both nights. You must reserve a ticket for both nights, tickets for Pt.2 can be found HERE

The materials fee for this workshop is £3. Please bring this with you on the night.

Just in time for Christmas!

Week 7 – Part 1:

Never done felting before? No experience required!

Come and make a flower brooch, using the traditional wet felting method, using fine Merino wool fibre. Choose your own colour combination – real or imagined! All materials supplied, minimal sewing skill required to sew on the brooch back! The 3D flower will be made using a resist pattern, which will give you the skills for:

Week 8 – Part 2:

Making a simply patterned cover for a glass tea light holder (the smallest vessel in the picture), or a small bowl, again using the resist technique, and traditional wet felting. Multicoloured, monochrome, decorated, plain, the choice is yours! All materials supplied, and a large choice of colours available.

Margaret is a feltmaker, making mainly 3D contemporary items by hand, using traditional wetfelting methods. Dales limestone and North York Moors have been inspiration for recent work, which has been shown in local exhibitions and is available in gallery shops. She gives talks, demos and teaches feltmaking to all ages.

The Langwith Scott Award offers free workshops to all current students and staff at the university, all you need is an online ticket from eventbrite and a free Tuesday evening! The Langwith Scott Awards exist to promote artistic creativity of all kinds. We encourage all participants to submit their works in for the Awards. This year's theme is 'Origins'.

Workshops all take place on Tuesdays from 6:30pm – 8:30pm in The Basement in Langwith College at the University of York. The entrance to The Basement can be found on the ground floor of John West Taylor Court which is situated behind The Glasshouse. If lost or locked out please report to the Langwith Reception Porters in the centre building who will be more than happy to help.

In order to keep the workshops running we do have a penalty fee for not attending workshops that you reserve a ticket for. This figure varies per workshop is calculated by dividing the artist's fee by number of participants and adding the materials cost if there is one. If you change your mind after reserving a ticket just get in touch with the committee to free up your place again and no fee will be incurred.
