Introduction to class
The class is aimed at beginners and intermediates and will last for 4 hours costing £45 per person. The class and I will draw from freshly made flower arrangements, composed of a variety of attractive flower types. Each member of the class will have their very own posy of flowers from which they will study and take home after the class has finished.
Through an initial demonstration, illustrating a loose way of working with ink and brush techniques, I will encourage the class to employ these approaches to produce a unique watercolour painting themselves.
Structure of workshop
My aim is to host an informal, friendly and inclusive art class in Cass Arts’ new Art Space located on the basement floor at their flagship store, Islington. The aim by the end of the session will be to ensure that everyone has completed a series of mark-making techniques, quick and simple flower studies and at least one, more completed piece, and leaves with the skills and confidence to do so again on their own.
I will kick-off with an example, aiming to encourage a free rendering, using water and ink. I will then encourage the class to do short studies of the flowers, enabling them to familiarise themselves with the subject and materials.
As the class progresses and the students feel more at ease with the medium, we will concentrate on longer studies, allowing time for more detailed paintings.
Light refreshments available & all materials provided.
I look forward to meeting you!
