Hands-on Cow and Sheep Body Condition Scoring and Nutrition Workshop

Simon Turner, SRUC Livestock Behaviour Specialist and Murray Cooper, Aberdeenshire organic farmer, head up a practical, hands-on session on condition scoring pregnant cattle and sheep with nutrition planning at Murray's Mains of Thornton farm.

Simon says, ‘Cow Body Condition Scoring and nutrition planning can lead to healthy suckler cows and better thriving calves.’

Murray adds, ‘With over 1000 breeding ewes and nearly 200 cows, we need a quick method to identify thin, overfat and well-conditioned animals.

Norvite will provide an update on Murray's feed analysis and discuss nutritional needs for the different groups of sheep.
