Description

The inaugural Hanford Art Festival promises to be a fascinating week of talks aimed to appeal to all levels of interest. Hanford has decided to celebrate the important role creativity plays in its school with a series of evening talks from eminent figures from the art world to which the general public is invited.

All talks will be held in the evening in the Chapel at Hanford School.

The programme for these talks is as follows:

  • Monday 18th of June - Ann Witheridge, Former pupil and current parent at Hanford. Ann is founder of London Fine Art Studios. She gives her talk while painting a portrait.
  • Tuesday 19th of June - Mark Coreth, an internationally renowned sculptor, will talk about the plight of the polar bear whilst sculpting.
  • Wednesday 20th of June - Harry Primrose, Lord Dalmeny The Chairman of Sotheby’s United Kingdom and Ireland, will talk about ‘What Makes Art Valuable’
  • Thursday 21st of June - Sara Radice, Head of History of Art at Godolphin School, Salisbury, will talk about ‘Painters, Petticoats and Politics of Five 18th Century Women’
  • Friday 22nd of June - Michael Taylor, an award-winning portraitist, will be talking about ‘A Personal Journey through Paintings’ including the story of ‘Boy with Apple’, which was painted at Hanford and featured in Wes Anderson’s film ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel.’
