Hangouts - A group for South Asian gay, bi and tr
Event Information
About this event
This Months Topic - Let's talk about intimacy and relationships
The way we are intimate and form relationships with others depends on lots of things. Our South Asian heritage is just one of them.
Join us to take part in a conversation about what healthy relationships and intimacy could or should look like for us gay, bi and trans men with South Asian heritage.
Our South Asian Men’s Group
South Asian cultures are complex and have their own queer history. Traditionally South Asian cultures are community-focused and this can create different types of pressures and obligations on gay, bisexual and transgender men from these communities. In saying this, there are a lot of exceptions to this idea and attitudes continue to change.
The group will give you a positive space to think about these things from a personal perspective and without fear of judgment or discrimination.
The group is facilitated by Kuljit who is a British-born gay man of South Asian heritage. Kuljit will create a safe space for people to explore issues related to their gender and sexuality from the perspective of race and ethnicity.

Who Is This Event For?
Gay, bisexual, trans men who live in the UK and who have South Asian heritage. You are expected to have your video camera turned on so that people can see who they are talking to.
What To Expect?
The event is facilitated and usually starts with some introductions and some small group work. In our virtual groups we do this using breakout rooms. We then use a bigger group discussion to explore things in a bit more depth.
You're welcome to spend more time listening than speaking and you are not expected to tell us about your sexuality or gender unless you want to.
At the end of the event you will be asked to fill out a quick anonymous survey to help us improve for our next event.
How To join
