About this event
A full length feature film shot on location in the West Country... the film tells the story of Hannah More, born 1745 into a family impoverished by a court case.. Hannah is jilted by her wealthy lover 3 times, finally at the church. He, William Turner pays her money, an annuity, for her lost hopes which Hannah uses to become a famous playwright in London under the patronage of David Garrick. When Garrick dies Hannah returns to the West country to set up schools in the Mendips for poor children. She joins the Anti Slavery movement and writes anti revolution pamphlets for the government. Hannah More became one of the most influential women of the 18th and early 19th centuries in England.
