Event description
Catherine Stevenson, Chair of Newcastle u3a, invites you to join her in mapping the history of fairy stories through art

About this Event

Happy Ever After - a mapping of the history of fairy stories. This presentation is a combination of history and art history. Exploring and revisiting well-loved childhood stories using a range of sources, including both primary and secondary.

Join Catherine as she travels through time to the present day, visiting some of the important stages in the development of fairy tales. Be prepared to uncover new territory around these old favourites... Booing and hissing optional!

Catherine is Chair and Office Manager of Newcastle u3a. A group leader to several interest groups; Talking About Art, General History and Astronomy. During the pandemic, Catherine has been giving presentations to other u3as as well as Newcastle.

Catherine has delivered regional u3a study days at the Laing Art Gallery and 6 workshops at u3a National Conferences. She is a volunteer for Tyne and Wear Museums, often based at the Laing Art Gallery where she is a tour guide. She has also volunteered at the Great North Museum.

Art and history blend together with several other subjects to provide a myriad of excellent learning opportunities for our u3a members.

This event is for u3a members only.

It will be held online via Zoom.
