This workshop will encourage participants to explore Loughborough University's East Midlands campus in a new and social-distancing-compliant way, with the end result of writing a campus poem. For selected students, their finished work will be recorded and digitally pinned to locations in and around Loughborough University for others to collect.
Overhear's workshops create spaces where people are supported to pen their own creative responses to the spaces they explore. Their in-house facilitators guide attendees through exercises designed to generate work that can be recorded and pinned to the places they’re inspired by.
Connected to this workshop, LU Arts is asking for expressions of interest from any student who would like to write and record a campus poem for a new audio poetry walk. This walk will be available on the Overhear app from Monday 10 May to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week. This is a paid opportunity and the deadline for getting in touch is Sunday 18 April. Students who have not been selected to have their work included as part of the poetry walk can still attend this workshop and write their own campus poem but their work will not be uploaded to the Overhear app.

Workshop leaders:
Adrian B. Earle is a Poet, Media Maker, Facilitator and storyteller; Producer & Managing Director at VerseFirst Productions and Co-founder and Publishing manager of the Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal. His first chapbook 5 0 0 0 H U R T S was published by Burning Eye Books in 2019. He has an MA in Creative writing From Birmingham City University and performs and creates experimental A/V work under the name Think/Write/Fly.
Kibriya Mehrban is a poet and writer living and working in Birmingham. They graduated with a degree in English Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Birmingham in 2018 and have spent most of their time since working around – and occasionally performing at – literature events. Their work can be found in Emma Press anthologies This is Not Your Final Form (2017), Second Place Rosette: Poems About Britain (2018) and in the Hippodrome Young Poets anthology 30 Synonyms for Emerging (Verve Poetry Press, 2019).
